The first time I noticed JB’s name was the cover of Star Wars #13.
The I bought FF #212 and was smitten.

We all hope it makes you feel loved as well.   There’s a whole ton of artists whose first work to me I could not possibly guess.

This was probably my first Byrne. 68 pages, collecting #113-116. It was only a while ago I found out that a total of 9 pages had been cut from the stories! There was some confusion as to why these "X-Men" were underground and who this "Magneto" fellow was, but that didn't bother young Aki. My copy was already quite worn out whe I got it, and I read this so many times I had to go buy a replacement a few years later at nearly 10 times the cost. I don't own this issue anymore :-(

It could have been any of these three from early seventh grade. They all released in pretty rapid succession, and depending on how much money I had at my disposal, I often had to let a comic sit on the spinner rack for a week or two before I could gather enough money together to buy it.
Marvel Tales Starring Spider-Man #195Superman #1Action Comics #584
I suppose, however, there's an outside chance that it could be this one, pulled from a pile of $.20 comics in a corner of a used book store.
Avengers #188
