Since it looks nothing like what most people think of as spider webs, the effect is somewhat muted.

Demonstrating typical human respect for other species, having discovered what they believe to the largest spider's web ever, what do they do? Well naturally, they take out a pair of scissors and start cutting the thing apart.

Yeah, it wasn't visually a giant web as I would have imagined, but in many ways the actual thing is way worse; some kind of spongy mass that makes the entire cave look like a humongous Wrightson-esque organic thing.
