The UK's version of Trump, well our Poundland version of Trump, Nigel Farage, having been caught taking a £5 million bung from a crypto billionaire, and thus potentially breaching parliamentary rules, resulting in an investigation that could lead to him being suspended from parliament, has done the honourable thing and resigned as an MP.
Except, he has decided to stand in the by-election his resignation has triggered. Which if he wins will reinstate the investigation into whether he has breached the rules.
So the other main parties, seeing this for what it is, an attempt to stop having to answer questions about his bung, and further bungs from a convicted money launderer, which are getting him angrier and angrier in interviews, have decided to not field a candidate. So his only opponent will be our resident comedy candidate Count Binface.
A sitting MP resigns voluntarily, decides to run as the candidate in the by-election he has just triggered, all other major parties refuse to field a candidate, and his only opponent is Count Binface.
Politics in the UK.

Apart from his general odiousness, I have been unable to shake the idea that Farage looks like he was practicing Python’s ‘upper class twit of the year’ face in the mirror and got stuck that way.

I too, would love to see Binface win. It would be the best election result in the history of elections.

But if Farange wins, he can still be ousted if the investigation concludes he’s guilty of wrongdoing, correct?

Yes. If he wins, the investigation starts again and he can be suspended. If 30% of the constituency agree, a by election will be called

I should think so. The Commons committee's rules should allow for the investigation to be re-activated once he wins. The investigation is currently suspended because of the resignation. Even if he somehow lost, they could still choose to continue it.

So there’s still a decent chance he’ll be gone. At least you guys have that. We got nothing. Everybody’s on our guy’s side…

We need to find 30% of Clackton who would vote against him first. They are the only people who get a say in this.
