Yeah, certainly is.
Wow, 2006 to now. How things have changed. And by that, I mean, these
age differences have extended further.
Economics seem to have had a major impact, with people living with
parents for even longer for example.

A friend of mine has all three of his children living back at home and 2 grand kids and their dog.

They are all struggling to get a mortgage or deposit together through money being used on years of rent.

The whole rent vs mortgage thing annoys me.
Someone manages to pay rent for years without missing a beat.
But is refused a mortgage because they can’t prove they can afford the
payments - which could be less than the rent payments.
Have heard people say that a few times.

Yes it's a sad state of affairs when young people can't get
a mortgage, despite rent often beng more expensive. There
was a news item recently trying to criticise U.K. celebrity
Laurence Llwellyn Bowen having all his children, their
spouses and their children living with him and his wife,
admittedly in a huge house. But in this country the
Indian/Pakistani families also have 3 or 4 generations
living in the same house, they just pool their money and
extend the house. I think it's a good idea, because the
elderly have company and care.

14 years ago with my then girlfriend, we rented a two bedroom flat and the rent alone was £900 per month. I had to laugh as my parents mortgage was £650 per month!!!

Like you said, James, we never missed a payment or any of the associated bills and taxes.

Went to get a mortgage and had a £20,000 deposit, and we were refused as we had too little or no credit history. I basically had one credit card and a mobile phone contract. No loans or debt, etc., and my partner was practically the same.

This post from '06 certainly called it:

"Marvel will most likely be bought by Sony or Disney one of
these days."
