My first post in this area. Not exactly a sketchbook but just on 11 x 17 Strathmore paper. Here is my humble attempt to recreate Neal Adams' Batman 232 cover - or Ra's Al Ghul's first appearance. After using search engines in different sites, I realized no one has really recreated this iconic cover.

As has been posted here, I got the most awesome birthday commission from JB with the one titled "...and the OE2" based on MTU 62, which was part of my quest to get commissions from artists who worked on the particular issue cover dated my birthmonth and year.

This rainy weekend left me with no golf to play, so I was able to draw some more. This has the characters of Spidey Super Stories 27, which is also dated October 1977. No originality here, just me miming FM's style.  As a sort of tribute to him, I did try to make Loki resemble him.

@ Jovi: love that imitation of Miller's style.

There are times when I wish that Frank Miller kept doing stuff like this, even if it was exclusively on his own ideas.  I think he lost something when he agreed to do the DK2 miniseries, like he was just phoning it in.  Had he kept working on things in the vein of Sin City, I'd have followed him by then.

In any case, it's great to see someone who "gets it" in terms of Miller's drawing style.

Before I sign off for the night:

This here is one of the antagonist for my set of characters called "Team Helix".  I call him the Mindbender, and visualize him as one of those spooky Trenchcoat Brigade types.  Hence the costume design you see here.

Something I've done from time to time, at restaurants where they provide you with a sheet of paper and a cup full of crayons.  Time well spent while waiting for your entreé...

Samples of my latest sketches:

This one is cropped because of the full image being NSFW...

I plan on making two inked drawings using the LightPad overlay technique.  One will retain the original NSFW details, while the other will have the character in her costume.  As you can see, I'm in a sort of Halloweeny mood.

Last year, I posted the Thing pumpkin I did for Halloween (in JB's style -- or rather, my attempt at JB's Thing).  This year, I went for a Kirby Hulk (or, again, my ATTEMPT at a Kirby Hulk!)
