Seven years later... this looks like Paul Atreides and his three teachers. The only name I recall is Gurney Halleck, who may be the top floating head, but it's been awhile since I read the books.

Those are the characters from the Isaac Asimov FOUNDATION novel. I own that sketch, now, BTW!

Ah, well, I can see some of that, too. Sorry for missing wherever it was revealed. I went through the first hundred pages of this thread and didn't see it. I even tried searching from Google but it doesn't get into the threads.
Anyway, that's the great thing about artistic interpretations, seeing a different imagining.

Thanks, Flavio!
I didn't know the Pander Bros., but a little googleing helped me get what you mean! :-)
It's been a fun process, but it still takes me a lot of hours to get it done. Hopefully it'll get easier as long as I keep developing it!

I'm getting a bit of a Mike Mignola vibe off of those panels, Valmor. Maybe a little trace of Jack Kirby in there, too. I think the shadows and layouts on the figures do it for me.

And... to keep up the sketch posts, my latest "work in progress".
B hardness graphite pencil with Pelikan fount India ink on Strathmore 2-ply Bristol board using a Hunt crowquill pen. The challenge was in getting the proper perspective lined up for the sofa on which the young lady is sitting. The rest of it was quite easy. This illustration will be completed later in the week for inclusion in my DeviantART.com gallery.

You got it, Carmen. Mignola and Nowlan were two of the greatest inspirations for my digital style.

My finished penwork for that drawing posted above. . .
Pretty much all of the inking was done with a Hunt #102 crowquill pen, with a #104 extra-fine handling some of the finer details and a #107 hawkquill for the little signature at the lower-right corner. I used Pelikan fount India ink. The medium is Strathmore 2-ply Bristol board in smooth finish. One of the things that I noticed while completing this was that the ink still has a bit of a tendency to "feather" when being laid on the paper, although it wasn't as bad as on other projects. I'm fairly satisfied with the result in spite of it. Because of what I've seen with markers (including the Faber-Castell PITT brand), I've decided to stick with the traditional India ink for the time being. (It should be noted that I didn't use the larger Zebra G-series cartooning pen for this drawing, as it was smaller than the average comicbook page and had many smaller details I felt the big nib would leave little room for.)
