A preview clipping of a sketchdump post I intend for DeviantART.com...
My current method is to go into a word processing program to compose a column of text to be pasted to a sheet of Bristol board (I use the Strathmore brand), then make sketches directly to the remaining space on the sheet. I did start out cutting and pasting digital scans, but felt like it was a bit time-consuming and tedious. The new method started out pasting the sketches to the Bristol board, but that risked getting the sheets of paper on which the sketches were drawn all folded up if I laid it down too quickly, so I switched over to just drawing on the base medium itself. As the text above shows, I've started using Copic Multiliners for inking, and have confirmed that it will not smudge if marker color is applied to the drawing (once you let it dry completely). The old dip pen method left too much ink pigment on the surface which could get smeared under a marker nib when you delivered a stroke to the art. Eventually, I'll be switching from Prismacolor Premier art markers to the Copic Sketch brand, replacing spent markers as I go along.
