I'm getting a vague Mark Bagley vibe out of you, Boris. Is he your primary influence? Looks pretty good, so far.

Sarcasm, yes?

@ Ronald:

Not sarcasm at all.  I felt like the style Boris was using was familiar, and recognized it as being like Bagley's.  As Boris said in his reply, he and Dale Keown (former Hulk artist) were influences of his.

I'm from a similar vein.  John Byrne, Walt Simonson, and a few Japanese artists had strong influences on me as a teen.  I see nothing with it as long as you grow to develop your own style.

Perhaps Ronald thought you were being sarcastic Carmen, because the coloured figures of Spider-Man, Black Cat, Venom, Hulk, etc. that Boris did are all lifted out of books drawn by Mark Bagley and Dale Keown. So those figures don't just have a "Bagley vibe", but rather ARE Mark Bagley's. Hence the potential sarcasm.

There is no denying Mark's influence on Boris' pencil work. He uses the same shape for eyes, same shadow patterns, etc. I would swear that head study WAS done by Mark Bagley.

Yeah, Carmen, I think the fact that you used "vaguely" to qualify your statement...I'd say more like EXACTLY.
