JB, your house reminds me of Frank Lloyd Wright's "Falling Water" for some reason. Are you a Frank Lloyd Wright fan? Any interest in the "Falling Water" house?

I would not go so far as to call myself a "fan" of Frank Lloyd Wright, but I do admire much of what he did.The new house seems to me very much in the school of architecture represented by this site: http://www.usc.edu/dept/architecture/shulman/image_collectio n/index.html . . . and that has always appealed to me. (Note that one, the Freeman House, is a Wright design, and one which has turned up in many a Hollywood production -- including "The Rocketeer".)

The Beckman house in the upper left corner looks very similar to your new home in that photograph.

Weren't two of those houses used in Galazy Quest and Big Lebowski? I can't be sure.

Case Study House 22 was used in "Galaxy Quest."
Also in the pilot for "Columbo" (among others).

Wow! That's amazing forward thinking! I know you've got a huge home to move, but most people I know wouldn't think to call a moving company two and a half months out. They'd procrastinate until mid-June, panic, and then take the first semi-decent bid they got.
Out of curiosity, what kind of prep work do you need to do for a move like this? Do you pack everything, do you pack half and the moving company packs the big, heavy stuff, or do you pack only what is most valuable to you and let the company do the rest? Also, having never owned a home, how clean do you leave it once everything is moved out? Is it a stipulation in the sale that it's dusted, mopped, scrubbed and vacuumed, or does the cleanliness of the home come "as is"?
