One cannot judge the awesome talents american comic books has produced in such an overflow over the years, but which collaborator do you feel where the most on the same wavelenght as you, when collaborating on a book?

Roger Stern. And that one brief moment with Archie Goodwin.

The Stern/Byrne collaborations.

I know there weren't that many books those two teamed on, but when they did......WOW!!!!! 🪄🪄🪄

I know it's wishful thinking but if Marvel/DC could publish a Stern/Byrne omnibus........

Has any one read Marvel: The Lost Generation (2000 series)? It occurred during my estrangement and I know nothing about the series. Is it stand-alone or will I have to know intricacies of other, then current series?

Not many Stern/Byrne collaborations on DC titles, but Roger did make, what I think is a great contribution to Batman / Captain America.

MARVEL: THE LOST GENERATION is excellent - you don't need
to know anything, so just jump in. It's an absolute
highlight of JB's Marvel work, and that is saying
something!

I’ve often maintained that Rog being involved is what’s kept LOST GENERATION from being ****ed over.

One of my favs in all of comics (not just by Stern & Byrne) is the Captain America - Baron Blood story from CA 253/254! Great stuff!

The Baron Blood story was so evocative. Like a Marvel story crossed with Hammer Horror.

LOST GENERATION is an excellent piece of work that creates a new history / tapestry without stepping on or ruining what has been established.

That is something Roger Stern was good at on all titles he worked on bringing something new, but not at the expense of previous stories or works. He was also great at picking up on plot points that had been abandoned or forgotten and bring them to a conclusion.

He was able to finish off Len Wein's Chronos plot from BLUE BEETLE after it was cancelled in both POWER OF THE ATOM and ACTION COMICS, and concluded a story about a villain called Shellshock from HAWK & DOVE by the Kesels (that they started but never got finished due to that title's unfortunate demise) in ACTION. He did it a nnumber of times on DOCTOR STRANGE and THE AVENGERS as well.

Roger Stern's run on the Superman books was magnificent. He did a superb job following JB , but soon changed to ACTION COMICS. He did many many great stories over there, some are the pinnacle what others call the triangle era. I will mention the DARK KNIGHT OVER METROPOLIS SAGA and THE BRAINIAC SAGA.  He should be in the upper echelon of comic book writers!

(I know the Dark Knight saga has been a collaboration of the Super-Team, but still!)
