David Petersen has a style that stands out as totally unique and identifiable in the industry. I look forward to every encounter with him at shows and was psyched when he agreed to do his own take on Ben Grimm's cards game. As with all pieces, he was asked to have Ben hosting, Logan and Spidey present and add the additional characters of his choice. I love this piece!

I stopped by Steve McNiven's table at NYCC 2012 and was flipping through his portfolios when I was blown away by this piece. When I commented, "Wow.... it reminds me of Gil Kane" he perked up and exclaimed that he loved Kane. He went on to explain that this was initially intended to be a panel page, but he became inspired and produced a splash. In my excitement at finding this piece, I inadvertantly forgot to ask what book it came from.... but "wow".

Actually, this is becoming exhausting!! My gold pieces will be saved for last, but I don't think that I will go anywhere near this far again.... too much.

Great acquisition Fred! That Lee Weeks piece is awesome... That McNiven page is from his Amazing Spider-Man "Brand New Day" run if I remember correctly. I don't recall the specific issue number though...

Had someone on caf point out that it is from amazing #546, page 8. After taking a peek, the prelim is as impressive as the published page, in my opinion.

Joe: No derailing the new art thread! (I think a discussion about what makes a good splash page would make an interesting thread! Someone start one! In the meantime....)

Just did! :)

Next up are more cool additions to my Ben Grimm's Poker Game Gallery. I was psyched when Mike Mckone agreed to put his spin on Ben Grimm's poker game. As usual, I asked for Ben, Spidey and Logan with additional characters of the artist's choice. I was happy to see him going old school with characters from the original games and very happy with the final results of the piece!

Jack Herbert is a name that you will be familiar with, if you don't already recognize him from his work with Dynamite! publishing. I'm crossing my fingers that he lands with Marvel, so I can see more of his beautiful take on those characters.....
