Chris, if you find any Theakston inked Kirby work you can be assured that there is a Kirby only pencil version. He did this for Super Powers, DC Comics Presents and the Who's Who pin-ups.

Dave, this is the talent for that particular issue. So,yes...I guess. It lists Dave Stevens but doesn't say who's stuff he inked. Hopefully I'll know more when I find the series.Four issues is all it ran for.
Writer(s): Mark Evanier William Rotsler
Penciller(s): Rick Hoberg Will Meugniot Dan Spiegle
Inker(s): Dave Stevens William Wray - 'Bill'
@ Paul, What's a good price range for a "no pencils" Kirby page?

This practice we are discussing does seem like a great way to make sure the penciler gets his pages back and the inker gets theirs. Unfortunately, here it seems like a way for the inker to keep the penciler's pages too, especially since the pages we are discussing did not seem to come from Kirby.
However, when we were discussing this at the con, I submitted that maybe Jack and Greg had their own deal in place, that we know nothing about, but again, the sale of the inked pages seems to indicate otherwise.

You know, I would love to see JB 'trace' the Kirby pages he kept from the issue. That would be cool to see.

Chris, I bought a no Kirby pencil page from Theakston a few years back for a little more than 100. It was from DC Comics Presents. It has Superman and The Challengers of the Unkown. I thought the price was fair considering it was the art used for production. I dont think I would have paid more than that. Maybe 200 if it was a really cool page.

Thanks Paul if I find one I like I'll keep that in mind. I think I'd settle for a small Kirby sketch if I could find one for a decent price.

Chris- your best bet for a cheap page is from some of the odder 70's Kirby books: Manhunter, Kobra, The Avenger, maybe Sandman.... or something 70's/80's without a main character should go for under $1000. Books like Machine Man hover around the $1000 zone, and then it's all up from there...

If you just want something from Kirby, the cheapest stuff to find are his concept sketches when he was doing animation work.
