THERE'S A WAR TO BE WON: The United States Army in World War II by Geoffrey Perret.
I picked up a cheap copy of the book in paperback a few weeks ago. I'm about halfway through it and so far it is okay as military history goes.
After Perret I am jumping back into my mystery fiction hardcovers with YOU KNOW WHO KILLED ME by Loren Estleman.

About to start STARSHIP TROOPERS by Robert A. HeinleinThis is one I tried to read when I was in high school, but it wasn't STAR TREK enough for me, so I gave up after a few pages. With a few (a-HEM!) years distance added, I'm intrigued to see how my older self finds it.

Time Pressure by Spider Robinson
Recently re-acquired. I don't retain books I do not intend to read again, but for the life of me I can't recall why I would have purged it from my library.
Robert A. Heinlein is a favourite author of mine, I hope you enjoy Starship Troopers.

Deep Space Nine: Terok Nor: Day of the Vipers by James Swallow
Great Deep Space novel which is part of a trilogy. It focuses on Terok Nor, the name of Deep Space Nine while the Cardassian occupation of Bajor took place. It's a fascinating set of books that take you to a dark place prior to the series DS9. I really like the covers in this series and this is the first one with Gul Dukat on the cover. It's very much unlike anything I've read in a a Star Trek novel and I recommend it to any fan of the series. There's lots of turns and unexpected surprises in this series. The next two novels, which feature Kira and Odo on the cover cover the history behind the station before the Federation took control.

I'm reading LOTR again after 30 years. Funny thing is how it feels exactly like your basic D&D game. I bet someone with more time than me has figured how much experience each of the Fellowship earned for that quest....;-)

I have to agree on the entire Lord of the Rings saga being like a D & D game. I've watched the movie and read the books and wonder if someone didn't figure this out long ago.
I love the poetry and the language in the book. I just like to read them for that aspect. I am going to buy the last entry in the Hobbit tomorrow (on DVD) and can't wait to see it. I missed it in the theaters and wonder if Peter Jackson provided a fitting ending to this saga.
Back in the 1970's I've seen the animated Hobbit and Lord of the Rings movies and I'd like to take a look at them again after all these years. There are critics that have said that Jackson took liberties with some of the characters and mythology. However in any adaptation there has to characters and situations that have to be edited to make them entertaining to a mass audience. If the books were word for word recreated, it would make for a movie that would be too drawn out.

Keith Richards's autobiography, LIFE. About halfway thru it. It makes me glad I'll never actually sit down and have a conversation with him.

Hey, just started on the audio version of Rucka's "Bravo" last night.
Listened to "Alpha" a couple of weeks ago; hoping this is as good.
