The Futurians series that continued after the graphic novel was also fun. Cockrum featured characters he has created when making his own homemade comics as a fan, and included footnotes referencing the homemade issues.

Other than Darkseid (who is now overused), pretty much all of Kirby’s 4th world characters are sadly underused.  Mister Miracle is my favourite.

DC is sitting on a wealth of Kirby and Ditko characters.  And never really knew what to do with its Fawcett and Quality characters.

I've long been a fan of the Daredevil villain Gladiator. He pops up a little, often out of costume, but I feel he kind of lost his way into minor usage when he could have been much more utilized.

I was going to say CHALLENGERS OF THE UNKNOWN, but I guess 81 issues and numerous mini-series is not exactly not giving them their shot.  Still, would have liked to see JB tackle them.

And JB on THE CREEPER

...and BLUE BEETLE

...and PLASTIC MAN

...and CAPTAIN MARVEL

...and DEFENDERS

...and...

Wallace,

Are we bringing 70s Saturday morning superheroes into this conversation?

If so:

The Young/Space Sentinels (Hercules,  Astria, and Mercury)

I shudder at the idea of “underused” characters. Seems like an excuse for new “creative” teams to jump in with no holds barred.
