Hardly local news, but stories like this always get to me.

Dead is dead, but burning is a truly horrible way to get there.

The thing I find frightening is how quickly the smoke spreads and makes it hard to see.  And I know we are all trained time and again with fire drills, but when that adrenaline starts going, people become George Costanza.

I read some articles on this fire, and it lists some other fires in Thailand from the past few years and when will people stop setting off pyrotechnics inside???

Footage from the front exterior of the club is terrifying.   Fire was blasting out out of a door or window opening like a jet engine.

Horrifying footage on the news.

My father, who was a firefighter in NYC for nearly 30 years,
would tell us kids cautionary tales of people who panicked
during a fire or simply fell back on rote memory, piling up
inside a doorway instead of tossing a chair through a ground-
level bay window (that sort of thing). It instilled
situational awareness into my siblings and me early on.

It's always a good thing to plan an escape route! Every upper level bedroom in my home thankfully has a way out of the windows that would not involve a big plummet to the ground. SCARY!

I realized not long after moving into this house 20+ years ago that there is no actual exit from the bedroom end short of climbing off the balcony in the master bedroom.

I’ve contemplated having one of the floor-to-ceiling windows in the hallway turned into a door, but typical of me I’ve done nothing about it.

How are you fixed for fire alarms, JB?

House is full of them!

Somewhat annoying every time I burn the toast!
