I was trying to be lazy and not leave the house today. Now it looks like I'll have to go buy a newspaper.

wow, they've updated the funky site...cool....
OMG - I just realized these are the 10-Year later characters!

sfgate.com and several other online papers carries the Sunday Funky.

The two costumes in front (in front of the Robot) look familiar  (Trial of Reed Richards?) as well as the guy in the turban ;)

That's not just any "robot"!

(as far as I'm concerned, it's not a guy in a costume -- it's really Robby. It's the only day he can go out and get some fresh air and not cause a stir)

Does it bode ill that Wally doesn't have a sketch up for the 10 years later period?

YIKES!!!

Apparently my question was answered for me. If you go to Funky's homepage the school scene has John Howard: Owner of Komix Korner and husband to Becky.

Hmm, your Robbie toy isn't bad at all Mr Byrne.

But mine is quite something… PHENOMENAL !
See for yourself, I even put a REAL SIZE GODZILLA next
to my Robbie to give an idea of the actual size.

Now this looks a bit like JB's work, maybe it's just the painted style that reminds me of Next Men and Danger Unlimited.

This one stood out to me, but I don't follow the strip to really tell, to be honest.
