it is not time for the character to change. It's time for you to move on.

This statement troubled me a bit, but then it hit me: I haven't bought an issue with Spidey since Roger Stern's run.

In effect, I have moved on (as far as the character and title is concerned), and I'm sure I'm not the only one <g>.

I would have been against that reboot had that come to pass. Feels too much like a DC-style solution to a problem, creating confusing and damaging ripple effects like Perez's Wonder Woman reboot did. I'm even more against this actuality, since at least Howard's and your solution didn't involve the hero sacrificing his principles for selfish reasons.

One of the reasons I basically stayed away from DC was the way they arbitrarily rewrote their history (I would have been on board had Crisis resulted in an across-the-board reboot, as you have suggested in the past). Now that Marvel seems to have become DC in the worst way, I guess I will be staying away from them for much longer.

My initial thought when I read this was 'brilliant!', but, alas, anything done
in-story can be undone in-story. A true re-set is only going to be
successful if done at the editorial level.

All I know is, this is the last straw, and I've had it with Joe Quesada and can't wait until he's gone as EIC. Probably won't happen for years, but I can dream, can't I?

I won't be touching ANY Spider-Man titles until this crap (and I'd rather use a stronger word, but won't) is undone.

It sucks that Norman is alive again, and apparently not married with a son.

It sucks that MJ and Peter were never married.

It especially sucks that we may end up back with the whole Peter trying to hide being Spider-Man from Aunt May stuff again, because that got old a long time before they revealed that she already knew.

Joe pretty much wiped out 20+ years of continuity, and apparently doesn't give a rat's rump. Nice.

Hopefully, the sales on the Spider-titles will tank as a result of this, causing the whole thing to be dropped, but I doubt it. I've already heard from a few fanboys who actually like this whole thing!

Right now, I'm soooo glad the only M book I read is Captain America.....

Over the past year or so, I'd gradually been phasing out my monthly Marvel purchases in favor of hardcovers, with CAPTAIN AMERICA and FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD & AMAZING SPIDER-MAN being my lone remaining monthlies. With the recent Cap Omnibus volume, I've decided to just wait for the next big book for my Cap fix, and with recent events in Spider-Man being what they are, I'm down to zip on the monthly Marvel front.
