Now about halfway through YEAR OF THE HAWK: America's Descent Into Vietnam, 1965 by James A. Warren which was published back in 2021.

It's been about two years since I last read any books about the Vietnam War so I was a bit overdue to tap into it again. Unfortunately there wasn't a lot of new material available at my local libraries, so Warren's book was basically my only choice.

That said, it is pretty informative so far and it provides a solid recap of the various events and world leaders that set the U.S. on its tragic path. While it isn't in the upper echelon of Vietnam related non-fiction, it is a good primer for those who are just starting to dip their toes into the subject matter.

Recently read THERE IS NO ANTIMEMETICS DIVISION by QNTM, a novel compiled from an online compendium in the UK. Terrific story, an apocalypse that happens because the enemy--antimemes--erase the memories of those who encounter them, making study and strategy against them nearly impossible.
Reads like an especially dark TWILIGHT ZONE episode or a spinoff from Carpenter's IN THE MOUTH OF MADNESS.
Strongly recommended.

Pretty cool books--hybrid zombie-vampire apocalypse fiction. Good choice.

I met a guy 30 years ago in an AOL movie chatroom.  We became good friends and while there have been times we haven't been in touch as much, we always just pick up where we left off.  He was always writing.

Readers- his book is now #1 on the NY Times bestseller list.  Riley Sager, "The Unknown."

I think I am as excited as he is.

GO LIKE HELL by A. J. Baime

A fascinating recounting of the great rivalry between Ford and Ferrari, culminating at the 1966 LeMans race.

But tough going!! The Matt Damon/Christian Bale FORD vs FERRARI is one of my favorite movies of recent years, and this book underscores just how much of the film is complete fiction. (A LOT!!)
