I pulled this one out of my head while waiting in the lobby for my car to be repaired.  (Sketching in public is always a bit odd, and gets you some comments and stares!).

I had in the back of my mind something Bernie Wrightson-ish --- trying to get that hunched-over, knuckle-dragging, pose I mentally associate with him and early EC horror comics.

Also, I had been camping recently sketching trees...so I got into all the twists and turns.

Not sure how to finish it, or even if I will.  I'm flaky with art that way since it's all just for fun. :)

Thank you Joe!  I was trying to get some depth using a darker pencil for the foreground shadows, and leaving the background light.  That's my big artistic insight at the moment: two pencils. :P

I can't even imagine how to ink it.  I totally lack the hatch-density control.  It's almost like some sort of digital quantization process, and I lack the transcoder.

Three days of struggle with Maggie Sawyer, and then right
off the bat I get a Lara-El I'm pleased
about.....ah...life.

(Also, I'm editing this to add: the NO-EYEBROWS thing is
SO brilliant. What a choice by JB. It makes you wonder WHY
would that be? Did they FALL off due to atmospheric
conditions, or did they SHAVE them, or did they EVOLVE to
this? Spooky!!)

Well done with the costuming Joe!  And great observation about the alien facial etiquette too.  Only Mr. Byrne knows the real reasoning behind that decision---but it is striking.

Thanks man. I was looking to draw a 2022 Lois Lane….who knows. I think
she’s got style. Look, up in the sky, and all.

There are so many illustrations out there right now featuring Psylocke.  I don't get it.  She was never a character with any appeal to me.
