I am sorry about all I've just said. It just makes my blood boil that pathetic people who believe in talking snakes, virgin births and all the other crap can restrict the right of others. I wish I shared Jeremy's optimism.

Religion should be private. Worship your fake god in your home and enjoy your fictional tales of arks, rainbows and virgin births, but what right do they have to do that to women?

***"She said the ruling will leave thousands of women without the contraceptive coverage promised by the law***"

If the Law promises to pay for for women to have sex ,and not worry about pregnancy, then let the Law pay for it.  They will just have to incorporate the additional fees ($$) on the tax payer. no big deal.

I don't know how many times this needs to be said, because the Right seems completely unaware, but the pill is often prescribed for other things besides birth control.

An (apparently) little known fact, that doctors can prescribe anything for any reason they judge fit.  It's not uncommon for drugs to be prescribed for their side-effects not just their primary effect.

As an aside, is Rog missing again?

Yes, Rog has gone AWOL.

Michael Kane giving us all some deep, insightful food for thought as usual.

As usual, religion cares only about blind means, not logical ends. Nevermind that unwanted pregnancy causes many social problems, ruins lives and puts a greater burden on the healthcare system. Let's just stick with the age-old catholic dogma of dutifully and thoughtlessly popping out as many kids as possible to bolster the membership.

Viagra is covered.  Birth control pills (which are not just used for birth
control) are not.

Men earn more than women, on average.

Women have always faced a difficult-to-penetrate "glass ceiling".

Women's are increasingly subjected to unnecessary examinations
before opting for an abortion

Women have never received any compensation for rearing children
at home (fundamental to the nurturing and growth of any society).

Planned Parenthood is regularly under attack.

Abortion clinics are targets for terrorist attacks (bombing, arson).

Religions can discriminate against women through business, while
women are barred from participating in the authority of said religion.

Methinks a pattern is beginning to emerge.

Well, you're partially correct.  He is giving us something deep all right....  hip deep.

The Founding Fathers didn't give women the right to vote, so maybe they would be okay with this...but I doubt it.

My wife and I are past worrying about birth control, but I do have daughters. And when they are old enough to worry about birth control, it should be their business. Not mine, not yours, and sure as hell not Hobby Lobby's. They own their own bodies, they make their own decisions.

Imagine a religion that said that they are against male enhancement in all it's forms. Also they believe that any stimulant that allows for the male organ to become aroused by any other means than "natural" is also disavowed. Now imagine a company actually saying it was against this on "religious grounds" and so they don't want to pay for it. Up against the same male dominated Supreme Court what do you think their ruling would be? And, better yet, what would be the outcry from the male sector if they limited access in the same way they've limited access to women?

I say this all to point out the preposterous deluge of male dominated posts in all media either applauding this decision or giving a collective shrug. It's absurd and ridiculous on it's face.

The Founding Fathers wouldn't want to be congratulated, they'd demand an explanation.

I'm sorry. Have we somehow slipped back into the 1880's and no one told me? I need to pick up my spurs and whip from the livery!

It's amazing to me all these women out there having sex and no men involved, they just get pregnant by a miracle. Just like Mary.

The men just walk away, yet the women have to take total responsibility for the outcomes of said trysts, according to Mr. Kane's archaic thinking.

"Can I start a company and say its against my religion to allow my employees to have any health care at all? If they believe in God and that He will provide, He can heal them and not worry about doctors and hospitals and all that stuff."

Christian Scientists believe that illness is an illusion and prayer can cure all.
