Though I prefer Byrne as an artist overall, for me the definitive Sue Storm is the Romita version, followed closely by Buscema.  She was pretty and sophisticated, but still possessed a "girl next door" quality.  The Byrne Sue Storm looked a little bit too much like a super model for me.

Conversely, I love JB's Scarlet Witch.  I don't think she's ever looked better than she did in Byrne's late 70s Avengers run- especially the Wundagor Mountain storyline with Modred and Cthon.

Five years later…..

I think George Perez did a great Scarlet Witch.*

I would cheerfully stand next him!

* Though I was not thrilled with his costume choices. Like too many artists, he missed the demure aspect that is a necessary part of Wanda’s personality.

I wasn't yet reading comics during Perez's first Avengers run, and was mostly on the other side of my voracious habit during his celebrated 90's run, so I didn't see that. But I did pick up JLA/Avengers and was impressed by the distinctive Eastern European features he'd given Wanda. It hadn't occurred to me prior but it was a strong choice for the character.

His draughtsmanship at the turn of the century is also just about as good as it gets in superhero books. Energetic but crisp and controlled.
