A small week for me:
- CAPTAIN MARVEL #7 - It's still on my pull list, but I'm not enamoured with the title.
- RED SONJA VAMPIRELLA BETTY VERONICA #2 - Like the earlier bizarre Betty and Veronica team ups, this is a hoot.
- SUPERMAN:YEAR ONE #1 - Honestly, this wasn't even on my radar until Ron Grant posted about it elsewhere on the forum. Now I'm intrigued.
On another note, I'll be on holidays starting next week for a couple of weeks, but I'll try and do the regular postings. I'm travelling to Nova Scotia and the places we're staying does have Internet, so it's more or less based on the time I have available. The lists might be late by a day or so.

HIT-GIRL SEASON TWO #5 - Picked this up for the Goran Parlov art.
USAGI YOJIMBO #1 - Weird to see this book at IDW after being at Dark Horse for so many years. And now in color with colors by Groo's Tom Luth.
GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY #6 - Fun book still.
SAVAGE SWORD OF CONAN #6 - Might be my last regular issue of this as I'm not a fan of revolving writer and art teams. Might do like Hit-Girl and pick up it up when I like the writer and/or artist.
SUPERGIRL #31 - Missed this last week. Picked it up for the Maguire art only to discover he only did the first few pages.
Also ordered a used copy of Usagi Yojimbo Saga Volume 4 and the OOP Avengers Epic Collection Under Siege by Roger Stern, John Buscema, and Tom Palmer, which features one of my favorite Avengers stories.

Superman Year One #1- I really liked this issue.
Captain America #11- The art and the fact that Cap is my favorite is the only thing that's really keeping my interest. This book has been around for a year and almost nothing has happened in it.
Daredevil #7- Interesting plot twist coming up with the Kingpin.
Marvels Annotated #4- Still a good story but you can really see where all the retconning over the years has taken a little of the simple magic of the Marvel Universe away.
Savage Sword of Conan #6- I like Luke Ross but I miss Ron Garney. I'm feeling the same way about the creative teams, Shane.
My LCS informed me about the big discounts Marvel is offering on their collections. A few weeks ago I ordered the Chris Claremont X-Men Revolution Omnibus and the Jeph Loeb/Tim Sale Yellow Blue Gray & White hardcover collection for $30 a piece. Yesterday, I ordered the Lee/Kirby SHIELD collection for $12.

Captain America # 11 - I think I'll be dropping this book after issue 12. It has become a real slog.

I liked it. I've said before that I'm under the assumption that this is the origin for the Superman that we saw in Dark Knight Returns. I loved JRjr's art and I loved everyone's characterization so far.

I enjoyed the Superman Year One first issue as well. So far, it really doesn't violate anything in the Superman canon, especially if we make use of JB's interpretation of the Man of Steel and his days in Smallville. I'm not sure if this origin correlates to the Dark Knight timeline (but it could, I suppose). Looking forward to the next issue.

I liked it too. I'm of mind thinking this is an alternative Superman. Not one of the universe of the "mainstream" or the "52" universe.
It could be the one of the Dark Knight universe, as you both have stated.
I like that the story is "light"..at least now, in comparison to other Frank Miller stories. I of course love John Romita Jr's work. He impossible as it seems, he just keeps excelling.

I liked it very much, too. One of those comics that linger on in my mind for some time.As a very minor complaint, I had the feeling that a lot of the things that happen don't go anywhere; they just happen. I feel JB was able to tell much more and giving a more definite direction in far fewer pages in MoS #1
