I am a massive fan of John Byrne's work since the 1980s. By total coincidence, I came across a Brazilian book in Portuguese about JB's career called John Byrne O Genio Indomavel (diacritics removed) by Rodrigo Talayer.
I was wondering if a kind forum member from Brazil or Portugal has read this book and can provide more details about it?

It was crowd funded at Catarse and looks like it was published in 2021 with some reviews on Brazilian websites in 2022. It looks like a comprehensive review of JB's work. I'd love to get this even though I have only rudimentary knowledge of Portuguese and will probably end up just looking at the pictures.
It doesn't look like there is an easy way to get it shipped to Europe or get it as an ebook.
The writer Rodrigo Talayer seems like an enthusiastic fan of JB. He even has his own Youtube channel.

The book is now available as an English translation. Apparently, only 200 copies available.

Hi again, I got a message from the book's writer and publisher Rodrigo.
I'm quite excited about this book. The soft cover edition of the English translation is in preparation. It looks like the work of a genuine fan. I'll be sure to order a copy (though I think there will only be 200 copies printed).
Here is some copy from the back cover:
Rodrigo [Talayer] became a fan of the work of artist John Byrne after seeing the splash page of Uncanny X-Men #137 and began to read and collect the artist's works. He is recognized in Brazil as one of Byrne's biggest fans in the country, and due to his mobilization on social media, is one of the main reasons several of Byrne's previously unpublished works have been released for the first time in Brazil, along with many others that have been reissued.

I just received my copy! Fun books chronicling John's career - from Charleston to Elsewhen. Here is the link to his facebook page. In case you are wondering, the English version shipped from Brazil to the US including all fees was $70.

Apparently this book is considered a biography. If so, kind of weird the author didn't reach out to JB for some info on his life. I'm assuming if it's a biography, it covers more than just his career?

Maybe this will be like when I was assigned to SUPERMAN, and papers in England, reporting on it, gave me my father’s life story!

I think it would be fair to send you, mr. Byrne, a copy. Even this is an unofficial biography, I've understood the author is a real fan, so it would be something I'd do. Of course, I would had tried to contact you beforehand publishing the book and ask your opinion of it. But I don't know if the author is here or even knows about this forum.
