As for Kitty, it was in the first issue of the Marauders series by Gerry Dugan. Kitty discovers she can't use the Krakoan gates and starts drinking, at one point  stealing a boat and drunkenly trying to sail to Krakoa. Later, she kneecaps a Russian soldier with his rifle and phases another one's into his knees. Duggan seems to think this makes her more like her DOFP self, which is why she calls her self "Kate" now. It's not so much trying to make you mad as ripping you off. In the Fall of X, she gets out the ninja gear from the "Kitty Pryde and Wolverine" mini, accepts what is called her true nature as a killer (which was the opposite of that series' point), and calls herself "Shadowkat", the k making it more edgy than her old codename. She then bloodily kills an Orchis squad, even the ones who had surrendered.
