TODAY: Bomb threats close schools and offices after Trump spread false rumors about Haitians in Ohio.
Just like J6, he pours more gasoline on the fire.

Even more, the people he’s empowered in government. I was fucking nauseated to see that Ohio’s own AG has also been amplifying this.
The MAGA era cannot end soon enough, in every sense of the phrase.

It’ll at least diffuse into a bunch of smaller groups of varying unpleasantness but less focused political might, once the figurehead is gone. I honestly don’t see who could pick up the avatar/figurehead/god emperor mantle from Trump, and (mercifully) neither does the GOP.

Why would he think Haitians should be sent ‘back’ to Venezuela? The guy cannot string two things together to save his life.
Whenever we discuss this whole Springfield affair here in the UK, we simply cannot get our heads around any of it. This is the pinnacle of racist baiting, & as the bomb threats are showing, will only lead to a very dangerous place.
We had riots in the UK this summer, & hundreds of idiots who allowed themselves to get caught up have been sent to prison. If Trump loses again, & this is by no means a given (I’m with JB on this, 2016 casts a long shadow in my memory), I think the Jan 6 attack will seem like nothing but a warm up for what this idiot will stoke up, & this whole Springfield rubbish is part of the fire stoking.
You have months of this to come.

Brian Miller, I sadly don't see MAGA dying with Trump.
HOWEVER.....I think once he's gone, they'll eventually get weeded out.

As long as there are die hard anti-abortion and anti-immigrant votes to be marshalled, there will be a tea-party/Maga candidate.
New grievances and new avatars of anger will come to sustain it. But when Trump dies, it looks like the movement will lose a lot of momentum. He has been special in his ability to beat down any inner-party opposition while keeping voters with him. No one else comes close at that in the current GOP.

Mark,
Trump was NEVER anti-abortion.
He never gave a fuck about the movement. I'm sure there are a few women who are now in their 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s that he paid for the procedure.
It's why 45 is so twisted when asked any on the subject.

James, that is well established. There is a big difference between being anti- abortion and marshaling anti-abortion votes. None of the architects of the current political movement actually gave a rats ass about ending abortion. The populist-frar-monger leaders with brains know that actually resolving the problem is a sure way to lose their power.
What is sad is that the religious nature of this particular issue means that most voters who care about ending abortion don’t care about the actual convictions of their leaders. They believe that a sinner is sent to be the tool of God and that Trump’s imperfections only add to his overall Status as a weapon of God.
