I just learned this term, defined as "a person's name that is regarded as amusingly appropriate to their occupation" and it reminded me of some characters from comics and how they were given very appropriate names for their later lives. My favorite example being Stephen Strange. He wasn't a sorcerer when he was born....but the name conveniently fits!

Two questions: 1) Do you think using such appropriate names is too goofy or do you like the practice?
2) Do you have any favorite examples from comics?

1) If not overused, it's fine.
2) Jack Russell (a dog breed) was the alter ego of Werewolf by Night!

1. I can make it work, I just don't go to that "goofy" place when reading comics.

2. Victor Von Doom

(1) I like it. They're stories. But I wonder if Victor Von Doom would have become a superhero if he had been named Victor Von Hope.

(2) Edward Nigma.

1) It's a fine line between what works and what's ridiculous sometimes.
2) Otto Octavious

Nonsensical would be "Bucky" Barnes, who becomes the youthful hero known as....Bucky! Surely no one could figure that secret identity out!

Richie Rich
Vandal Savage
Cliff Steele/Robotman
T.O. Morrow

The Underdog Show had some of my favorites - Sweet Polly Purebred, Cad Lackey and Simon Bar Sinister being the most obvious of the bunch.
