He claims you made him wait a "solid" 10 seconds to give him what he wanted. What a villain!
(If that claim is even true...)

You probably wouldn't be shocked, but there are a TON of entitled people on those boards.

An overlooked detail is that the $150 charge, excluding the cost of the hardcover book, went to Bill. None of it came to me.

This is pretty typical of about 85.97% of the Big Bad Byrne stories out there. “I wanted SPECIAL TREATMENT and Byrne wouldn’t give it to me! Wah!!”My “favorite” part is that he chose to drop $450 for a triple dose of the signing “experience” then got mad at ME when he learned that I was signing at my table for free.

That was a crazy story to share. The poster thinks he looks like the hero, but just comes off as a giant jerk. I don't even get the love of Gold or Silver signatures because they make terrible contrast on all of those covers. His ulterior motive was just the exclusivity of the colors (which adds no value). People are ridiculous.

Some evidently think the metallic pens do add value. One fan grumbled to a JBNM lettercol that I had signed his books “cheaply” with a black marker. Thing is, I was long ago told those silver and gold pens are oil based, and are actually harmful to the paper, long term.

I was there. I was seated with Gary Cody to JB's right and saw most of this interaction. JB's 'handler' (whose name I've sadly forgotten) was an absolute pro, this guy was a petulant child, the more she tried to calm this guy down the more of a scene he caused. Ugh

I think that was Constance. In real life she’s a doctor. She was also close with George Perez and was there when he died.

I've never understood these "fans." I have few signed books. The only value getting a signature holds to me are as a physical token of the memory of meeting the artist. To intentionally sour the moment like this guy seems an anathema to the entire event.
The fact that he and his buddy still get a "laugh" out of it suggests creating the altercation is part the moment he wants to remember, which is a pretty sad indictment of who this person is.
