In something that feels so much like a joke that I'm hoping that it is: Def Sec Pete Hegseth announces testosterone screening for Military.

This is notably after news broke that he denied yet again another slate of worthy female candidates the promotions they'd earned, and also in the context of having stopped mandatory flu vaccines a few months back, only to have to backtrack when the obvious result resulted. And let's not even get into the whole, y'know, war performance.

I'm back to Tim Walz's original observation that these guys are all just plain weird.

They have no idea what's going on.

Hegseth disgusts and horrifies me.  The statement that made me the angriest was when they were going to do another military action ... somewhere, and Hegseth said, "We're going to kill some bad guys!"

It's all a damn game.  He's still playing cowboys and Indians in the backyard.

Like all small, weak men, Kegbreath is obsessed with the appearance of strength. Just like his boss.

And for such men, "strength" is defined solely by the ability to impose one's will through brute force.

These are the people who changed the Department of Defense to the Department of War.

And yet they're starting to look like they couldn't win a
game of Battleship with a two ship head start.

I never would've imagined longing for people like Cheney and Rumsfeld.

That was the thing I was talking to my wife - well, gently RANTING at my wife - about, last night: the thing that Hegseth seems to be focused on is making the Military a 'warfighter' machine, and it's the thing that he's proven it's actually gotten worse at.

There's (of course) a logical hole a mile wide in his thinking that building the armed forces around raging 'roid cases who can beat up other people in hand-to-hand; war is a game of strategy, and physically weaker people who have managed to advance in a system that's been stacked against them are the smart ones with the greatest capacity for long-term strategic thinking. In the Trump administration alone, it's why Vought and Miller are terrifyingly successful while Hegseth is a tattooed train wreck.

They banned gender-affirming care except for “warfighters”.

Hegseth can't hold a straight thought in his head.

The Iran War was their 'gift to the world', but he bitches about no one else joining in

He says the US has been at war with Iran for 47 years and Trump is the only one with the guts and moral clarity to do something about it. His mission is crystal clear... but this is more Europe's fight than theirs.

Operation Epic Fury is laser focused... but the US blockade is 'going global', from the Gulf of Oman 'to the open oceans.'

'We are in control'... But we are deterring them from laying mines in the strait.

And two days ago he claimed the US military should win the peace prize every year.
