The creators bring their own talents, influences and experiences into the piece and something new and amazing is the result. That's what a completely mechanical process like Generative "AI" can never do.

There's nothing elitist in pointing out that typing "Mickey Mouse and Indiana Jones ride on an elephant in the style of Neal Adams" is not a skill.

I will say that on the IT front, AI has been a very useful tool. I've never been a great coder, which is why I chose jobs that didn't lean heavily on that, though I can read code fairly well. But generating code completely on my own involved lots of back and forth Googling, espeically when getting syntax right and debugging. I guess I'm glad that I didn't waste all that time on becoming better at it because now that's mostly out the door. My wife already warned the kids that Computer Science degrees are not going to be worth what they were for us when we got them.

So, would it be an improvement? ;}
