So, where does this big win leave the SCOTUS?

There were rumors that Thomas and Alito were going to leave.

Now? No way. I see these guys doing a RBG.

They will not leave.  Not a chance in hell.  We're stuck with this terrible Court until one, the other or both die at which point we better hope that Dems control the Oval Office as well as the Senate.

Read this opinion online:

"With this scale of victory, it seems very likely that the Democrats will now have the Senate majority for at least 4 years."

"If Democrats win the White House in 2028, then justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito would need to wait until at least 2033 for there even to be a prospect of there being a Republican president and Republican Senate. By this point, both justices would be in their mid-80s. Perhaps they will wait around, but I wonder if they look forward to that prospect."

"They could try to rush a replacement in the current lame duck session, but Trump might encounter some resistance from a few of the outgoing Republican senators."

I don’t imagine Trump will be a very lame duck.

Batten down the hatches!

You guys don’t think one or both members of SCOTUS retire within the next week so they can shoehorn in their replacements?

THAT would be a bold move. Mitch McConnell would be proud.

Not a gambling man, but I find it hard to believe that Thomas or Alito would allow the country to move forward without their....guidance.

Hopefully they pack the court and make them irrelevant.

Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries seem to be 'under the microscope' already about their ability to lead. They better be listening.

Many voters want them to NOT go easy on this administration and are demanding accountability. Fresh faces in Congress need to step up.

I felt pretty good when I went to sleep last night, and when I woke up in the morning, I saw that a trans hate initiative had passed in Washington state, where I live, and it just tainted everything. The sweeping legislation attacks something like ten to twelve specific teens, with every girl in the state collateral damage and on the hook for mandated physical exams.

The blue wave actually bypassed Washington; all the Democrats would have been elected convincingly anyway, which is a good thing because the state electorate lurched several points to the right. Just a loathsome display by the people of my state, who are the same white moderates Martin Luther King, Jr. decried.

The Republican Party in the WA state is a blasted heath, but as much as I prefer them hobbled (their major policy initiatives this year were this ballot measure (on the downlow), a repeal of the new state millionaire tax, and an open letter begging Trump to deploy troops to occupy Seattle) their nonentity status allowed Democrats to vote for this poisonous law without identifying as MAGA. And the state Democratic Party will only become corrupt and decadent without a credible alternative. But since the GOP is so overtly hostile to voters and the rule of law, Democrats remain the only choice.

David, sounds similar to 2008 when CA passed an anti-same sex marriage bill.

IMO, Mark Kelly would be the best possible Dem choice for 2028.

Wow, that Washington initiative is something else. Hopefully, the courts have a brain and over turn it. Seems like it throws women's rights through the door. "You must prove you have a vagina in order to play volleyball!!"
People suck.
