Depends on the time period too. Pencils have generally become much tighter as the years go by, leaving far less decisions for the inker.••• Again, it depends on the penciler. Last time I drew these characters, four decades ago, my pencils were much tighter. Over the years they have become much more organic.

Fairly recently my daughter and I were in a Comicbook store and she was showing me a trade from a Batman series. It was reproduced from the pencils. To me it looked dead and flat, without any evidence of layout or construction lines and with nothing for an inker to add, just follow the lines.
In contrast JB's sketch has movement and dynamic perspective with emotional reaction from the characters.

Always a pleasure to see your pencils. Love the heavier lines. I always enjoyed Wiacek and Williams inking you. I think they would still do a great job with your current style....

Oh, yes, that's lovely. If there's going to be more, I will be quite excited! Add me to the chorus of those that just love seeing your pencil work. If left completely up to me, my choice of inkers would start with you, but I know that wasn't the exercise here.

Sorry JB, no slight intended. I associate pencils or conte/charcoal to sketches. Drawing is proper designation, everything is there.
