Point has been raised, if I went back to Marvel, what would I do, assuming something that I had not done before, and assuming an environment in which I could do what I felt should be done, and not be weighed down by the latest "fixes".

A few titles spring to mind…

Doctor Strange
Nick Fury, Agent of SHIELD
The Invaders (WW2)
Guardians of the Galaxy
Black Panther (bouncing between NY and Wakanda)
Ka-Zar (in New York)
The Black Fox (a cheat, I know, but I have not done him in his own title)

Thoughts?

A Nick Fury series would be awesome...as would Guardians of the Galaxy.

Doctor Strange is a stretch... Unless you have some really good stuff floating in that nogging of yours... DEMON was as close as to Doctor Strange as you have gotten...

Going back to the basics... re-inventing the origin... bringing back THEE villians... i don't know...

it has always been a very hard sell for me... so far nothing has convinced me to buy Doctor Strange...

Gerry would cream himself, sure...

JB, you would cause me to buy the comic...

I don't speak of the others, cause I have purchased them...

edit: now if you could find a way to finish THE LAST GALACTUS STORY thru anyone of these titles... well...

enuff said.

Ka Zar and Panther sound most appealing to me.

Doctor Strange and/or the Black Panther would be great; Black Panther in particular I think is such a promising character that has never quite reached his potential.  The Invaders would be interesting, but if we're playing a "What if .." scenario, I'd rather see the JSA during WW2.

Invaders or Dr. Strange.  As an alternative, I wouldn't mind seeing Steve Rude do the art for the latter.

Guardians of the Galaxy could be cool as well.

"Guardians of the Galaxy"

A series that is truly near and dear to my heart. SO much potential there. And the characters looked really well done when JB has drawn them in the past. Even if it was ever so briefly.

Out of curiosity, JB. Did you read any of the 90s series at all? Or is your knowledge of the team focused more on the earlier stories?

  • Doctor Strange: This would be an artistic dream. All those Ditko mystic realms would be non-stop fun to see.
  • Nick Fury, Agent of SHIELD: I really think this is the most inspired choice. You could easily do the modern day spy stuff, while tying in some old WWII sub-plots. Of all the ones you mentioned, this has me most excited with long term possibilites.
  •  The Invaders (WW2): This would be the most natural fit for you. Not bogged with any current problems you could do Captain America and Namor once again.
  • Guardians of the Galaxy: While I'm not that familiar with the characters, I know you do great sci-fi. This could be the new comic experience with older characters I find every year or so.
  • Black Panther (bouncing between NY and Wakanda): I see all types of Indiana Jones-like adventure ala Kirby in this one.
  •  Ka-Zar (in New York): This character has never worked for me. Maybe taking him out of the Savage Land is the spark that makes this guy a hit.
  • The Black Fox: This would be a great deal of fun. Anything that explores more into The Lost Generation would be refreshing.

I'd be remiss not to add my own choice for you, Thor. Now look into the mirror and say, "I'm John Byrne and dog gone it, I'm good enough to do Thor!"

I would chop off a couple of fingers if I thought we could get an Invaders
series from JB.

Dr Strange would also be awesome.

Dr. Strange would be my first choice, given this list, and even though I would love his Invaders, esp. with Cap & Jack, I find myself imaging JB on the Guardians of the Galaxy more.

Invaders and Black Panther would be great. Would also love to
see JB launch or relaunch a Wonder Man series.
