Malice was called Malice but if I remember well, the french editors managed to squeeze in a reference to remind the readers that they were different persons. Same with Nightcrawler/diablo
Did you know that Snowbird was "translated" as Harfang ?
And I hate to turn in a fellow french person but I'm quite sure this is a fake name...

Perhaps Rogue was originally intended to be called "Rouge",
which would explain the large amount of makeup she has on
on in her first appearance, and the editor decided that a
fan base composed primarily of males wouldn't understand
cosmetics and mis-pronounce it "Rogue?"

I'm not sure if maybe she misunderstood the instructions during sign-up so I've e-mailed her and we'll sort it out.

BTW, I'd never been very familiar with Michael Golden's art before but after reading AVENGERS Annual 10, I find it stunning to see how much influence he's had on both Art Adams and Todd McFarlane.

To bring this back to Rogue, it's interesting that she appeared at about the same time that JB left X-MEN, though outside the pages of that title.

I don't see how anyone could mispronounce rouge as rogue. Rouge sounds like rooj but it's a fact that a lot of English-speaking people mispell Rogue as Rouge. Hell, I sometimes see original art on eBay attributed to Bryne or Glaucy.

Are we sure thats not Rogue's grandmother? ;)--- Mike Norris

I bought Avengers Annual 10 drawn by Mike Golden and my first impression was that Rogue was in her late 40's! An experienced older mutant who had the skill to take out the Avengers which included Thor, Captain America and Wonder Man in that issue.

Then when she joins the X-Men she was revealed to be and drawn like a teenager.

I've always wondered if Chris Claremont changed her orgin between Avengers Annual 10 and X-Men 172?
