I also like the light-hearted sequence of the thug spending 2 pages evading Batman only to have Batman appear right behind him.

I also like the light-hearted sequence of the thug spending 2 pages evading Batman only to have Batman appear right behind him.•• Bigger Melvin! A truly GREAT scene! There is a LOT of humor in Denny and Neal's Batman -- and not a whisper of it is at the expense of their lead.

It was something to see, at the time! While Superman fans howled like scalded cats at every comma I changed in the Man of Steel's mythos, there seemed hardly a squeak from Bat-fans as Frank turned over every apple cart in sight!

Well that's because you were intentionally writing layered Superman stories aimed at people of all ages, while Miller was trying to make his Batman stories as mature as DC would allow him to and aimed those stories st older readers. Creators like Miller and Moore mainly appealed to the then vocal "I'm embarrassed to still be reading superhero comics at my age" small section of fandom. I'm pretty sure that the people who were complaining about your Superman stories were most likely the same people praising Miller's Batman stories.

I live in the town of Great Yarmouth in the United Kingdom, JB, and there are two sisters here who have harlequin's disease. I recently moved to a road where one of them attends a school. I see her most days of the week and it is one of the most heartbreaking sights.

i'm kinda on the fence with the redesigned Amanda Waller. i always kinda wondered how fans reacted to Perez's "slimming down" of Etta Candy and then her marriage to Steve Trevor from back in his run on WW?

She was active duty Air Force in the Perez Wonder Woman, so it made more sense for her to be in shape. (It just occured to me that Perez basically gave Etta the "Diana Price" role. Huh.) And given that the previous method of getting Steve out of the way as a potential love interest was to kill him off, I thought he came out ahead that time... :-) The redesigns of Deadshot and Harley were bad enough to keep me from trying the new Squad book. I suppose I should thank them for being kind enough to complete the set.

That, at least, had internal motivation and character development beyond "taking a chubby character and making her into a sexy babe."
That didn't happen to Etta until her ridiculous appearance in the straight to DVD Wonder Woman movie, where Etta was not only svelte but something of a flirtatious vixen.
