Great piece, Jeff.  I love the lasso and the stars, neat touch.  Wonder Woman looks young here.

he is an exceptionally nice man.

Yes he is.

I had the honor of meeting him mere minutes after Peter David wiped the floor with Todd MacFarlane during their "debate" at the Philly Con - October 8, 1993

I'd had "celebrity encounters" before, but this was the very first time I'd actually felt anything similar to being star struck.  So much so that my friend had to ask him if we could take a picture.  He smiled and bellowed out "SURE!" before wrapping his arm around my shoulder.

Some nice match-ups in that Avengers vs Teen Titans piece. Robin is going to get his arse kicked though.

The black & white commission on the previous page is very nice indeed.

Can't wait to meet him in... 23 days! I'm so excited!

This year will be the first year I ask to have my picture taken with folks, if they don't mind. I regret not snapping a shot with Busiek, Wolfman, Kollins, etc over the past couple of years. Not this year! Perez is a MUST!

Alright, home and freshly rested from the NYCC (Thur/Fri/Sat is MORE than enough for me. (Can you say, 'Too much of a good thing?!?')), and wanted to fill you in on how the 10 mins w/ PEREZ went.

George was primed and ready to go the moment the convention opened.
While my plan was to wait until there was a large enough gap in the sched (in hopes of possibly getting 20 mins), I ended up having my 10 minutes closer to the end of the convention b/c it seemed at some point there was going to be a bottle-neck of attendees.

I proceeded to fire off a number of questions but the one that most surprised me went something like this:
Me: How do you feel about characters that you've created (such as Cyborg/Starfire/Raven) being changed/morphed/wiped from existence in the wake of storylines such as DC's New 52?
With the new status quo wiping out the very existence of the Wolfman/Perez Titans, does this in any way make it difficult continuing to working for the company?

George: 'Not at all. in fact, quite the contrary.'
'I couldn't be more happy that characters that I've created have lasted so long and in so many incarnations (Comics/animation/live television)'.
Besides, considering what I continue to make from royalties, (he actually was a little more specific ($$$) but it's not necessary to reveal it here.), I have absolutely nothing to complain about.'

Though his response surprised me a bit, It is nice to see him still so happy and (seemingly) well respected after so many years in the industry.

As for the character I picked for this to illustrate, at the last minute, I opted for an original character of mine (I mean, how many opportunities do you get to have someone like George to illustrate a charter you've created?).

All contributors received signed prints as well (I'll post this as soon as I can get them scanned).

Needless to say, this event alone was worth attending the convention.

I got to meet George at a Phoenix Comicon a few years back, and he couldn't have been nicer.

I know conventions aren't the cup of tea of every writer and artist, but it's great when you run into one who really enjoys doing them, and George would fall in that category I think.
