Great storytelling here: even though we've seen the big reveal (Phoenix!), there's obviously more going on that we and our heroes have yet to grok -- and we're left wondering whether there might be clues in details that we have (and have not) witnessed.

As a reader it's all very satisfying: what will be the next gift from JB in our weekday advent calendar?  And it is a gift, as the literal answer to "What Price Yesterday?" is "Still only zero cents!"

I imagine most of you can guess that next issue opens with a small flashback to bring us to this situation.

(Reminding me of an issue I drew several years ago. There was a point where we stepped into flashback—and the writer scripted those pages as if they were “present tense”.)

I dunno - there’s something different about this Phoenix / Dark Phoenix.
Maybe it’s the more sensible hair style.

Looking forward to what’s next!

It was most frustrating. A group of characters had been attacked by monsters, who had then departed. Our Heroes arrived and one of the survivors in the first group was supposed to be telling them what had happened. Instead it was scripted as if the monsters had returned and the newly arrived good guys got out of the way, doing nothing while the first group was attacked for the second time!

Even Chris’ excesses never quite sank to that!

Jeez... that's a pretty epic fail on the writer's part. Even worse (IMHO) that the editor didn't catch it. If I was the editor on that title, I'd have expected to catch hell from the EIC for that kind of blunder.
That said, the writer clearly didn't get what was going on. Sorry this sort of thing happened, JB.

Could someone who caught the double meaning explain? I am dense
and it has flown over my head.

Isn’t Dark Phoenix a part of the X-Men’s “yesterday”?

If it/she is back…………

I'm intrigued to see where this will go. This is an *all-new* Dark Phoenix, after all.
