LINK

Mostly positive, but hard to take seriously when, right out of the gate, it identifies a Sal Buscema issue of UNCANNY as having been drawn by Neal Adams.

Gotta assume that the reviewer didn't even read X-MEN #66, because I can't see how one could mistake that issue's art as Adams.

On the other hand, if it were X-MEN #64 being referenced, I could sorta forgive it. I'm still in awe at how Heck and Palmer pulled off the Adams look.

*SIGH!* I hate when reviewers can't be bothered to get the credits correct. I always try to be as accurate as possible on my own blog.

In any case, speaking of X-Men: The Hidden Years, I enjoyed it. I did feel it spent too much time in the Savage Land. But other than that, there were some enjoyable stories. I really liked seeing the X-Men and Fantastic Four team up against the Z'Nox. So cool to see Joe Sinnott ink the FF on that one issue.

And I can honestly say that issue #15 is one of the few comic books ever to genuinely move me to tears. That ending was such a punch to the gut. All these years later it still leaves me choked up.

I looked for a collection of the Adams XMen issues but have come up empty
as of yet. Hopeful. I’ve yet to read them.

There was an ESSENTIAL volume that contained Neal’s X-Men in beautiful black and white.

I still use it for reference.

I have the collection titled
X-MEN VISIONARIES 2 : The NEAL ADAMS Collection, with this cover.

Unfortunately it has been recolored.
The Essentials is the better option.

X-Men Epic Collection: The Sentinels Live has those issues Joe. It's listed on Amazon.

Holy merde! That’s one ugly cover. A triumph of technology over talent!

The Marvel "Gallery Edition" oversized hardcover from maybe 3? years ago (time has no meaning anymore) is a beautiful color collection of the issues.

The curious thing about that “weaponize” comment is that I wrote HIDDEN YEARS in such a way no prior knowledge—no nostalgia—was needed to (hopefully) enjoy the stories.

Mind you, the exposition sometimes necessary to make that happen had some complaining it “slowed the story down with stuff we already know!”

Lose some, lose some, I guess.
