There is so much negativity in the world today.  This thread is meant to highlight the positive.

What little thing made you smile today, made you laugh, made you forget everything going on in your life if but for a moment?

Great idea for a thread, Matt! My 11 year-old daughter likes to work out with me occasionally. She got a personal record in box jumps this morning and asked me to email her old gym teacher because "He inspired me to be in shape." She must have caught my surprised reaction because I always figured I kind of motivated her. "Don't worry dad, you're okay too." Always the bridesmaid...

My pets make me smile. The treasure trove I’ve assembled over the decades give me great delight. Friends.

Just seen an Oriole outside my window. Their song is so crisp and loud and the male's "neon" orange is intense. Makes me smile whenever I experience that.

I opened a shop door for a little kid today (probably around 8 or 9 years old). She smiled and said 'thank you very much', accompanied by a wider smile from her proud parent. That was enough for me, self-titled cynic that I am!

My cat knocked over some books.  When I got up to clean up the mess she hopped on to my chair and snuggled in.

We have a young cat that is fairly skittish. She runs and hides behind the couch if anyone other than my wife comes near her. I woke up this morning with her curled around my hand, purring (the cat, not my wife!). Then, I began to pet with my other hand and she loved it. Hopefully, a first sign of growing trust.

My oldest is having her senior prom tonight. She had her last day of high
school yesterday. Both happy and sad!

I was on my deck on the phone Thursday with my Supervising Producer.  She was like "Wow!  So many birds!"  I've heard that before, many times, from customer service reps to friends.  I live in a portion of the SoCal Valley where, yes, there are tons of birds and their chirps and songs can sometimes sound overwhelming.  I love it.  Makes me smile every time I hear them.
