This is NOT American greatness... and sure as hell is NOT freedom.

Ironically, July 4th is right around the corner.

Yeah, yeah, okay, but do we know who leaked the opinion early yet?

Because that's the real threat to our democracy.

I see folks keep bringing up Bernie in 2016, I say this problem goes back further. I'd start with Nader and his supporters in 2000, who took enough votes from Gore to give the election to Bush II (because there was "no difference" between the two major parties).

Gore lost because he couldn't win his own frikkin' state of TN.  That was the difference in that election.  Forget Florida and its hanging chads, when was the last time a candidate lost their home state in a Presidential election?

I'm sure Jabari will correct me if I'm wrong, but (at the risk of mind reading), I suspect he was being sarcastic, along the lines of here is a clear and present constraint on freedom in the US, as opposed to the rhetoric from the GOP when the leak occurred (eg McConnell: "By every indication, this was yet another escalation in the radical left’s ongoing campaign to bully and intimidate federal judges and substitute mob rule for the rule of law")

As I say, I could be wrong, as there were also suggestions at the time that the leak could make it harder for justices to switch to a dissenting view.

If everything's being left up to the states, why are we even a nation anymore? What's the point??

We're certainly not the "United States Of America" anymore.

Indeed, when the leak happened conservatives seemed to be more concerned about that, than the opinion itself. I believe some congressmen even tried to pass a bill criminalizing leaks.

Well, from their POV, there's nothing to be concerned about with a fait accompli
The true head scratching would be them not being able to 'read the room' re: public opinion once the decision was leaked. THAT'S what astounds me.

Pardon my language, but...

Fuck Clarence Thomas.

He wants to take a look at overturning same-sex marriage, as well as trampling on other rights. Hopefully he's the next SCJ to come off the bench.

And Trump, of all people, is saying overturning Roe V. Wade is bad move for the GOP!

It really should get voters off their backsides. Polling indicates a sizeable majority among Americans supports abortion rights.
