It's anticipated that the Supreme Court will hand down its ruling within the week. I will amend the subject heading to reflect the decision. In the interim, what are your thoughts?  Fears?  Prognostications for what this decision portends either way?

America will take one more step to becoming the
Handmaiden's Tale.

I really do think you will be heading for a civil war if
the Supreme Court keeps making these judgments. Give it
10 to 20 years, but if this direction keeps going, and
the Republicans make it impossible for them to lose, what
other options will there be?

Taking liberties when people are expressing their
freedoms to a greater extent, coupled with mandating that
everyone can carry guns in public?

Yeah, this is going to go so well.

About 25,000,000 people living in states that Trump won in 2020 voted for Biden, thirteen of those with abortion-trigger bans once ROE is overturned. Twenty-five million people, active voters. Hopefully, they will be roused to action, because not a few of those states are were close-calls.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the ruling against ROE released today. Dump this bad news on a Friday.

In his concurring opinion, Clarence Thomas calls for eliminating
marriage equality and the right to privacy, and recriminalizing
homosexuality.

Bloody hell.
A state can decide to ban an abortion but
can't decide to stop someone carrying a gun in
public.

What an effing mess

It's all going to be torn down on a 6:3
majority from now on.

Thomas wants to eliminate marriage equality? Does he not see how that would be one short hop toward eliminating interracial marriage? That would personally affect him.

In all honesty, it is looking like the
Republicans are pretty much no different to
the Taliban.

They just arrive at the same position from the
other direction.
Pretty much that's it for women. There is
going to be a chip chip chip of equality until
it's back in the kitchen for you, you baby
maker.

If Roe v. Wade is overturned, which I unfortunately feel is a done deal, the US will take yet another step backward. It is another step toward a country hell bent on "freedom" and equality as long as you are a white, christian, heterosexual, gun loving male. Anyone else will notice their freedoms and equality have a few caveats. When Trump was elected I had a few friends that thought, "The country will survive him as it has done many other bad Presidents". Here we are almost six years later and the damage done by Trump and his enablers and supporters might not be understood for a few generations.
