The author misidentifies my Rob Liefeld parody as an Art Adams parody, but since Liefeld IS a parody, I guess that kinda works.

Reading through that is a welcome reminder of just how fun that book was.  The tone is still sparkly and fresh.  Now where'd I put my Omnibus?

Genius can never die!

Ha!

I missed a few issues late on in JB's run on She-Hulk. Not sure if I missed the one with the Liefeld parody or if it's just holes in my memory.

Did you find it difficult to emulate Liefeld’s “style?” You pulled it off rather
well, I thought.

Even Liefeld finds it difficult to emulate his style.

#8 on the list is one of my all time favorite moments - She-Hulk busting
through the comic book back issue listings. I remember laughing out loud at
that one and thinking it was very much in the spirit of Monty Python. I am/was
such a fan of comedy that She-Hulk was such a wonderful moment to see my
favorite comic book writer/artist could also do comedy

As with the Liefield/Adams mix up that JB mentions, I think they are making a
mistake when they call this a Marvel "subscription ordering page." I think this
gag was making fun of the back-issue direct market, specifically the Mile High
ads of that vintage. I get it when the civilian media mixes this stuff up, but
shouldn't CBR be better at these references?

You’re quite right, Tim. That gag was a parody of those back issue ordered ads—pages on which Marvel let the retailers run whatever they wanted, and thus ran ads for their competitors.

What an amazing run that was, JB.

Also funny in hindsight that the artist you were parodying is now best known as the creator of Deadpool, whose main appeal is precisely the fourth wall breaking shenanigans in the same style as She-Hulk (not that he had anything to do with that, he just drew a mix of Spider-Man and Punisher or something).

On the subject, I found a Liefeld parody account on Twitter you guys might enjoy:

Currently he's recreating WATCHMEN panels in the Liefeld style and it's hilarious (obviously, no feet!):

Let's not drift into a Liefeld-bashing thread. Too easy.

What a pity Marvel couldn't leave that alone.

Of course, just in time for the TV Show, they brought her back to her well-known form, down to the big hair and spit-curl - LINK
