LINKIs it too paranoid to think this is McConnell trying to lull the Dems into a false sense of security?

I don't trust a world that comes out of "The Turtle's" mouth.
But if it holds true, one of the reasons would be the race in Pennsylvania. So far, John Fetterman (D) is making Dr. Oz (R) look like what he is in politics: Out of his league.

After so many years. I'd hope the Dems (along with everyone else!) would STOP giving ol' McConnell ANY time to manipulate. For me, his act has grown STALE.

McConnell is definitely trying, but I think (hope) that the democratic base is very fired up this time around, mainly because of the overturning of Roe V Wade.

He's a crafty politician, so paranoia is not the wrong response.
The fact that he absolutely looks and acts like a crafty politician is the thing that always floors me.

IF "crafty" means McConnell has ALLIES that'll back him when he needs the help, I suppose that's fair.
Face value.... he has NO skill other than being a DECEITFUL LITTLE WEASEL. No sane person should ever trust him.

I don’t think this about the Democrats at all. I think McConnell is pushing for DeSantis, as DeSantis is Trump without a lot of the unpredictable man-babyness, and he’s setting himself up for a big “I told you so” if some of Trump’s more stupid picks in the battleground states result in Democrats retaining control of the Senate.

McConnell may have ulterior motives, but he's making a realistic assessment that at least two races (Pennsylvania and Georgia) that should have been relatively easy wins for the Republicans are now not, because of extremely weak Trump-endorsed candidates. Trump is arguably to blame for the Democrats currently having the Senate majority, and if they retain it by winning these two seats he will arguably be to blame again.
