Sad news coming from the family of Tom Palmer
that he passed away. The term legend gets
tossed around way too much but in the comic
industry, he earned that title.

Rest in peace.
Wonderful inker/finisher-artist

As I understand it, on The Avengers, John Buscema or Paul Ryan were doing the layouts (structure, including the one of the faces with recognizable characters) and Tom Palmer did all the rest. The finished art, more than just inking.

Also wonderful on Gene Colan and on JB.

Oh no!!!!

One of the best in the business.

He made the great work of Adams, Buscema, and Byrne even greater.

RIP

I would buy any comic I knew he inked. The list of inkers like that is short for me. RIP.

The interview I listened to of him a number of moths back was one of my
favorites. I learned that inking comics wasn’t his primary source of income.
He just did it as a side gig. Can you imagine the talent needed to be so
fantastic and prolific as he was and that just be basically a hobby for
money? Incredible.

A true legend in every sense of the word.

He and Joe Sinnott shared the title of being the definitive Marvel inkers.

I'm still in awe in how he damn-near turned Don Heck into Neal Adams on X-MEN#64.

Another loss of one of the best inkers in the business this year. RIP

Loved his style. Very loose and dramatic, yet very plain to see at the same time. Masterful shades. He could pencil, color, and paint also. Legend!

One of the joys of becoming a pro was getting to work with Tom AND becoming friends with him.

I was able to meet Tom Palmer through Jim
Warden to set up a commission. He couldn't
have been nicer and when we finally met in
person he made me feel like I was an old
friend. As good of a person as he was a
talent.
