It was one heckuva way to go out-- and Guardian was still one of my favorite characters in AF. That fight against Omega Flight was a really good one. Excellent commission, JB, and thanks for sharing!

It sure was a heck of a way to go. It certainly shocked me way back when.

 QUOTE:
You can really see that there is a "million" years of artistic advances between the Box here and in the actual series.

That's exactly what I was going to say!  The metallic reflections are much more detailed than any Box in the past.  Guardian must have one of the coolest costumes in comics, too.

Nice, JB.  I just emailed Jim Warden last week to let him know I'm saving my pennies for one of these commissions...I WILL HAVE THAT BATMAN commission!

****

[No small part of that is due to the dimensions of the piece. At these large sizes -- about 4 times the size of a comicbook page -- extra details must be included or there will be a lot of blank space. This is why, for instance (and as I have noted elsewhere), I tend to make the Thing's plates smaller, and therefore more of them, on the commission pieces. 20x30 means a lot of space to fill!!

John, I can't thank you enough, this is exactly what I was hoping for.  Alpha Flight #11 was the first superhero comic (and the first time I'd been Byrne-d) I ever bought, and Guardian really stuck with me.  I missed 12 and 13, and was stunned when my parents bought me 14 to find my new favorite character was dead.  This commission will always be treasured!

And here I was just hoping to see A commission, even someone else's.  I didn't think mine was next!  Time to get to work and earn some money for the next one.  I'm thinking Avengers...

Haven't seen you draw Alpha Flight in a long time, JB!

Any character you miss drawing?

It's interesting to see what different people think will make for a good commission.  Of course with you handling the drawing, anything a person requests is bound to come out looking marvelous (regardless of comic company afiliation)! Thanks for sharing, JB!
