What I say I mean in all seriousness, it's not meant to be a put-down :
Robert Cooke's post is really a letter to his own father. Invariably
all Byrne-bashers sound the same. They should seek therapy for their
daddy-issues.

"While were at it, can we do away with "in my opinion", "in my humble
opinion", "with all due respect" and some of the obvious others? "
Sounds fine with me.

I didn't say that. But there are similarities. It outrages me when
incredibly talented, intelligent men and women are shat upon by
worthless people.

Well, all Byrne-bashers do sound the same but I don't get a "daddy love
me" vibe from them.

QUOTE:
They're internet 'catch phrases', really. It's almost as if people are conditioned by reruns of Friends ('Could these cliches BE any more annoying?') and Seinfeld('So I'm doing a bit about cliches...not that there's anything WRONG with cliches..but WHAT is the DEAL with CLICHES?') to speak in 'catchy and memorable' phrases!
So lotsa people use 'em to try to sound 'kewl'. |

Joe, are you intentionally trying to be antagonistic? I mean, it's not possible that someone could ::gasp!:: disagree with what you wrote without you passive/aggressively responding in a manner that makes it look like you're being attacked?
Here's an idea: stop looking for conspiracy around every corner and just debate the merits, or lack thereof, of what other people write. My suggestion with regard to the topic of this thread is the end of quippy one-liners, slams, and put downs that add nothing to the conversation save to prove that you can, indeed, be just as mean, trollish, and a bore as the very people you bitch about on other websites.
