I can clearly see that the newer version is superior in a technical sense, but for some reason I like the older one better. I like the Wolvie in the newer one better but there just seems to be something "more right" about the Hellfire Goons in the old one. I just can't quite put my finger on it.

JB: "I've been thinking I might give the cover to 141 this treatment next."

****

Wow! That would be quite the experience for me as that is hands down
my favorite cover. It's obviously one of the most iconic covers in modern
comics as evidenced by the number of times it is homaged.

I'm intrigued - while I feel that the image that started this thread is ripe
for re-interpretation, that "Days of Future Past" image is perfect to my
eyes.

Trot on over to the "Time Warp" thread, Tim!

As many times as Uncanny X-Men 141's cover has been redone, it would be
nice to see it get redone -- and reinterpretted -- by the original artist
himself.

You should talk Terry Austin into inking it and sell it on eBay -- I'd bet it
would fetch more than the last one did.

[edited] Never mind. Just saw the thread. Wow.

Thanks for sharing these pieces, JB-- it's been a treat to see you revisit these iconic covers and bring to bear what experience and thousands of pages since have put in your toolbox.
