Spider-Man was Spidey, Captain America was Wing Head, Thor was Goldilocks. I loved calling Iron Man Shell-Head and Daredevil was Horn-Head.

That quote is from Stan Lee himself in Stan Lee's Mutants, Monsters & Marvels (1992).

Like them or not, nicknames are a part of our culture.  Mindreading someone who uses them as to their intentions is pointless.

JB - But at the other end -- can you imagine anyone this side of the Thing or a particularly cocky Iceman calling Magneto "Maggie"?
*****

I can when someone particularly vile isn't there.  While I am sure none of us have used terms like Tricky Dick or Slick Willy to their face, I am certain there are good deal of people who know and may have used those terms as a note of infamy.

it would be interesting to see the folks who post in that other place, post the same things here where JB and the rest of us can see what they really think.

No, that would be too above board and honest.

it would be nice if someone had the courage of their convictions, and posted for all to see, without being "called on it"

Well, if they are posting on an open forum then they have every right to stay there as you do or JB or anyone does here.  If you don't like what someone is saying, take it to them.
