Okay,  this scene makes me angry.

I have no problem with Captain American being portrayed as out-of-touch with popular culture - that's been around at least since Bernie Rosenthal was kidding him about his Glenn Miller record collection.

What I do have a problem with is Cap being portrayed as out of touch with America. As other posters have said, this country and the ideals it was founded on are far greater than a collection of Trivial Pursuit answers. Cap never should be portrayed as having lost touch with the American country, the American dream or the American people. Never.

Also, Cap is supposed to be an eloquent speaker, not to mention a man dedicated to his ideals. Are we supposed to buy that some big-mouth reporter can verbally eviscerate Steve Rogers? We're talking about a guy who could give a Gettysburg Address-caliber speech and kick the Red Skull's can at the same time!

Finally, if the point of this story (as is the point of many current comics) that we don't need heroes, then why should anyone bother to read these stories in the first place? What other medium tells people, "The characters you care about are dumb - and you, by extension, are dumb for caring about them"?

Sigh.  Can we just have a "M***** Sucks" Thread instead of creating a few dozen each week.  Same song all the time.  We get it.
Daredevil, X-Factor, Runaways, Astonishing X-Men, Ultimate Spider-man, She-Hulk, Black Panther...

Heroes is the title of a populer show about sooperheros. Maybe "hero" means "tv star with sooperpowers".

In ancient times, she probably would have been stoned to death. Now she's a superhero? Yikes.

Sure there is.  I think it's easy to slam the company as a whole, tossing the baby out with the bathwater, without taking into consideration some really good books being published by the company.  Personally, I'm currently enjoying RUNAWAYS, ASTONISHING X-MEN, SHE-HULK, MS MARVEL, CAPTAIN AMERICA, INCREDIBLE HULK, GHOST RIDER, among others.  Of course, YMMV, but I think it's a generalization to the extreme to say that there's nothing good left at Marvel.
