I would still like to see some new Byrne/Austin art. Either recreating old X-Men art or new commissions. Both artists' style has changed, and that is what would make it interesting.
I would be very intrigued as how The Uncanny X-Men I grew up with would look today!

Have you ever done a page recreation in which you changed the original? I'm talking different poses, camera angles, panel layout, etc. I know I've seen cover recreation commissions posted in which the same scene was reimagined in a completely different way (invariably a superior way, IMHO), but I can't recall ever seeing the same thing done to an actual page of story.
A new version of some of the classic great moments, with inking by Austin...could be interesting.

I'd love to see Byrne/Austin chained together producing one third of JB's
monthly output...(one third self-inked, and one shot from the pencils).

Well, that's already 50 times what I was paid for it the
first time!

Is my math correct and you're saying got $40 for that page originally? Was that your page rate or what you sold the original page for?

Page rate for pencils, yes. On UNCANNY I was getting about $40 per page -- with most of the issues being 17 pages! And, please, nobody invoke the fact that these were "1977 dollars". It was still way cheap! In those days, we didn't get into comics for the money!

Morning JB - I've always been curious, in today's market what would the range be from rookie to fan-favorite for page rates for pencils?
Also, given where the X-men #132 recreation ended, have you decided what you will charge going forward for published page recreations and if so, will it follow the same structure as your other commissions. Namely, a higher price for X-related characters.
Thanks!

I don't know what current starting rates are. Sorry.
As to prices -- we shall see. I don't expect I will be
accepting any private commissions to recreate
pages, tho, so the question is kinda moot.
