I love the intelligence of this...the way Dr Pym handles such a physical attack by Tigra...how Captain America is already thinking two steps ahead of Wanda...just love it when the brains is as impressive as the brawn. I also love the distinction of Avengers gear and normal gear. I think in the comic book world we are too used to super computers and ultra high tech things...it is nice to know that something as familar as a Quinjet...is a baddass thing to those without one

The inks seem a bit "fluffier" than usual for this time period..JB, was this inked over full pencils, under the assumption that Machlan was going to be inking it?

Love this issue. Not too fond of the cover, but the inside art is among the best of this run, I think. I especially LOVE Cap's face in the close-up shot in panel 1, page 13. Hank in panel 5, page 11 is also great, very Neal Adamsque, if I might say.

I also really liked this kind of inking. John, remember what you used to ink this, pen or brush, both or neither?

One of my favorite single issues of JB inking himself.

Love the way Pym "takes care" of Tigra.

Also contains a famous Byrne profile-body-shot of Vision.

Great issue leading to an even greater issue 50.

I think it may have been, yes.

I like this issue. I liked the panel on page 14, the homage to Kirby, and the new corner art with the GLA!

"That which endures."  Always had a nice ring to it. Pretty creepy and menacing.

Also interesting to see She-Hulk being played straight, as JB's She-Hulk was being published at the same time...

Your mention of that, Vinny, reminds me that when I first read it many moons ago, I kept expecting just a panel or something where Jen winks at the audience. Not a full-blown She-Hulk issue type thing, just something telling us she's aware she's somewhere else.

My random comments:
Cool cover, love the captions. Don't think I liked it as much back then, but
how was I to know that soon comic covers would be so horrid?! I think I
didn't like the orange colored background bits.

First page is such an awesome shot. Captain America, She Hulk, Rubble,
Sleeping together (not in a bad way), and Cap's shield over her in a
protective gesture. Just doesn't get any better than that!

Never liked the Pym shrinking power. Tigra's transformation turned me
off too. But hey, things need to be shook up sometimes! Given a longer
run, I'm sure I would've come around.

Love the way Vision just floats up in panel 4, page 15. Don't think I
caught that before.

Hawkeye's body language when introducing the Vision to the GLA speaks
volumes about his character. Loved what JB did with him throughout this
run.

Evolution scene: more greatness!

The only cover from the West Coast Avenger run that I had no recollection of. I do remember issue #50's cover with the Human Torch's return. I also remember the ads hyping Visionquest where it seemed by the covers that the Human Torch would be returning earlier. JB, was there a particular reason why you waited a few issues later then the ads promised to get the Human Torch back in the story?
